Jenny came to the YMCA summer camp when she was struggling emotionally, physically, and socially. She comes from a single parent home and her dad has been in and out of jail. Life for Jenny has been hard, but since she started attending summer camp, she has made tremendous progress. Jenny has also improved communication with her mom. She has shared that the YMCA is a safe and stable place for her to spend her summers. Jenny is thankful for the support of the caring staff.

A young lady came to us from Salvation Army (homeless) for help to obtain an ID and birth certificate. In our financial office process, we understood she wanted to get a job as a welder. We connected her with the Career Center for classes and Community Action for transportation help. She came back to us after achieving her welding certificate, needing clothing for an interview, and returned again for work clothing after getting her new job. A few months later, she came back in for assistance with a down-payment for her apartment. In all of this time, we also provided her with food and other clothing to help her. This is what we love being a part of, working together with several agencies and organizations to help someone help themselves out of poverty.
